No, that was not a typo, I meant to say for free. Apple will replace your headphones free of charge, with free shipping as long as your iPod is still under warranty, whether they are broken or not. Simply Visit http://depot.info.apple.com/ipod/, and enter your apple Serial Number (this is to verify that your iPod is still under warranty). Then just follow the steps, and Apple will send you new headphones. But the best part of all, you don?t have to send the old ones back. That said, my iPod Headphones ?Broke? (*evil laugh* – they?re not really broken) and ordered a new pair on Monday morning. They arrived yesterday (Friday) and it didn?t cost me a dime. Also included with the headphones are the black pads to make sure they fit in your ear. Speaking of which?

I just tried this, and got a screen saying I need to send back the old headphones. Not only that, but I have to put in a valid credit card number and agree to pay $19 if I don't send back the old ones. Any ideas?
How long ago did you buy your iPod? Are you sure its still under warranty?
I put in the purchase date as 12/14/05, 74 days ago, so that should work…

I'll be honest with you; I haven't actually tried this procedure out myself. My friend said it worked and I took his word for it. Perhaps Apple scanned your Serial Number to see if your product is actually still under warranty. I'll ask my friend about this.
OK, that's true. While we're being honest, I've actually done this before, and last time it worked. I don't know why they need the info now… could be because tons of ppl started using it to get free stuff (it was on Digg.com), and they are combatting that. Or like u said, cuz the warranty is out. Well I just did this and that page also came up asking me for my credit information and talking about $19 if I don’t return something. I’m still pending for the e-mail they said they were sending me. My friend did this and accidentally picked the dock and got it for free, he didn’t say anything about a credit card or a fee. Oh, and I bought my iPod on February 9th, 2006 so it better still be on warrenty.
You’re friend got a free dock? Maybe I should should try that.
As for the headphones I think apple have caught onto this thing.
