It’s been a long time since I last posted. Initially this was caused by my host’s data servers crashing. It took over a month before they had everything running properly again. After that they emailed me saying that my site was unrecoverable and that they didn’t have a back up either. So I had to wait another week or so before I was able to go home and upload a backup myself and restore the MYSQL databases (I’m at a boarding school in case you were wondering why it takes a week to go home). Anyway things should return to normal now 😀
Confirmation of Touchscreen iPod
The rumors of a touchscreen iPod have been verified. One of TrustedReviews’ news writers has confirmed that the highly anticipated, and long awaited widescreen touchscreen for the iPod mp3 player, will be released in December. TrustedReviews claims that they have spoken to a well informed executive of Apple.
The next generation iPod will sport higher resolution, and Apple hope to offer 480p high definition content over iTunes. TrustedReviews writes: “When I enquired about the control method he confirmed it would be virtual”. They even have the patent that Apple has filled (see below). Although the executive couldn’t confirm whether or not the iPod would feature wireless capabilities (including sharing), he said “This is why Jobs isn?t afraid of the Zune.”

Apple Trademarks ‘iPhone’
Apple Computer has filed for a trademark on the term iPhone, suggesting the company plans to use the moniker, recently popularized amongst the analyst and blogging communities, as the official name for its highly-anticipated iPod cell phone.
The filing, made last month with a Far Eastern trademark office, is the latest in a long list of incontrovertible evidence to suggest the Cupertino, Calif.-based iPod maker is in the final developmental stages of the project, which is expected to merge traditional cellular capabilities with an iPod digital music player.

Intel to Launch Quad-Core Chips on November 13
In a race with rival Advanced Micro Devices, Intel will bring its quad-core chips to market in a new line of Hewlett-Packard workstations due to be introduced on November 13.
HP sent out invitations to the event but did not specify exact models and prices. The computers will probably use Intel’s planned Xeon 5300 chip, and will be designed to run high-end applications like seismic analysis and visualization technologies from Ansys, Autodesk, Landmark Graphics, and Parametric Technology.
The launch would mean that Intel brings quad-core processors to market before AMD, a crucial win in a year when Intel has made as many headlines for its layoffs and missed earnings targets as for its technology.

Apple Releases Red iPod Nano
Apple have released a Red version of their 4GB iPod Nano. The release is intended to raise funds for ‘Product Red’, an initiative aimed at eliminating AIDS in Africa:
“Both the U2 frontman and the famed talk show host have publicly unveiled the new “iPod nano Red” — a 4GB version of Apple’s second-generation iPod nano in a red anodized aluminum enclosure — on national television.
Apple, which has agreed to price the player inline with its existing 4GB iPod nano models at $199, will donate $10 from the sale of each unit to the Product Red charity.”
