Low Latent Inhibition

I’ve just watched episode 9 of the new tv series called ‘Prison Break’. Near the end of this episode we find out that the main character suffers from a condition known as ‘Low latent Inhibition’. I wanted to see if such an interesting condition actually existed so I googled it and here is what I found:

Low Latent Inhibition Plus High Intelligence Leads To High Creativity?

Jordan Peterson of the University of Toronto and colleages at Harvard University have found that decreased latent inhibition of environmental stimuli appears to correlate with greater creativity among people with high IQ.

The study in the September issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology says the brains of creative people appear to be more open to incoming stimuli from the surrounding environment. Other people’s brains might shut out this same information through a process called “latent inhibition” – defined as an animal’s unconscious capacity to ignore stimuli that experience has shown are irrelevant to its needs. Through psychological testing, the researchers showed that creative individuals are much more likely to have low levels of latent inhibition.

“This means that creative individuals remain in contact with the extra information constantly streaming in from the environment,” says co-author and U of T psychology professor Jordan Peterson. “The normal person classifies an object, and then forgets about it, even though that object is much more complex and interesting than he or she thinks. The creative person, by contrast, is always open to new possibilities.”

Previously, scientists have associated failure to screen out stimuli with psychosis. However, Peterson and his co-researchers – lead author and psychology lecturer Shelley Carson of Harvard University’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Harvard PhD candidate Daniel Higgins – hypothesized that it might also contribute to original thinking, especially when combined with high IQ. They administered tests of latent inhibition to Harvard undergraduates. Those classified as eminent creative achievers – participants under age 21 who reported unusually high scores in a single area of creative achievement – were seven times more likely to have low latent inhibition scores.

The authors hypothesize that latent inhibition may be positive when combined with high intelligence and good working memory – the capacity to think about many things at once – but negative otherwise. Peterson states: “If you are open to new information, new ideas, you better be able to intelligently and carefully edit and choose. If you have 50 ideas, only two or three are likely to be good. You have to be able to discriminate or you’ll get swamped.”

“Scientists have wondered for a long time why madness and creativity seem linked,” says Carson. “It appears likely that low levels of latent inhibition and exceptional flexibility in thought might predispose to mental illness under some conditions and to creative accomplishment under others.”

A less able mind has a greater need to be able to filter out and ignore stimuli. A less intelligent person with a low level of latent inhibition for filtering out familiar stimuli may well sink into mental illness as a result. But a smarter mind can handle the effects of taking note of a larger number of stimuli and even find interesting and useful patterns by continually processing a larger quantity of familiar information.

The central idea underlying our research program is therefore that individuals characterized by increased plasticity (extraversion and openness)retain higher post-exposure access to the range of complex possibilities laying dormant in so-called ‘‘familiar ’’environments. This heightened access is the subjective concomitant of decreased latent inhibition, which allows the plastic person increased incentive-reward-tagged appreciation for hidden or latent information (Peterson,1999). Such decreases in LI may have pathological consequences,as in the case of schizophrenia or its associated conditions (perhaps in individuals whose higher-order cognitive processes are also impaired, and who thus become involuntarily ‘flooded ’’by an excess of effectively tagged information),or may constitute a precondition for creative thinking (in individuals who have the cognitive resources to ‘‘edit ’’or otherwise constrain (Stokes,2001)their broader range of meaningful experience)

Note from the text of the full paper that stress causes the release of the hormone corticosterone which lowers latent inhibition. In a nutshell, when an organism runs into problems that cause stress the resulting release of stress hormones causes the mind to shift into a state where it will examine factors in the environment that it normally ignores. This allows the organism to look for solutions to the stress-causing problem that would be ignored in normal and less stressed circumstances.

So perhaps we could hypothesize something like this: under stressful conditions, or in personality configurations characterized by increased novelty-sensitivity, approach behavior, and DA activity, decreased LI is associated with increased permeability and flexibility of functional cognitive and perceptual category [see Barsalou (1983)for a discussion of such categories ]. Imagine a situation where current plans are not producing desired outcomes —a situation where current categories of perception and cognition are in error, from the pragmatic perspective. Something anomalous or novel emerges as a consequence (Peterson,1999), and drives exploratory behavior. Stress or trait-dependent decreased LI, under such circumstances, could produce increased signal (as well as noise), with regards to the erroneous pattern of behavior and the anomaly that it produced. This might o?er the organism, currently enmeshed in the consequences of mistaken presuppositions, the possibility of gathering new information, where nothing but categorical certainty once existed. Decreased LI might therefore be regarded as advantageous, in that it allows for the perception of more unlikely, radical and numerous options for reconsideration, but disadvantageous in that the stressed or approach-oriented person risks ‘‘drowning in possibility,’’ to use Kierkegaard ’s phrase.

One can easily see how this response could have been selected for evolutionarily. At the same time, one can also see how chronic stress could lead a person to fall into a state of confusion as a sustained large flood of stimuli could overwhelm the brain by giving it too much to think about and make a person unable to clearly see solutions that will relieve the feeling of stress.

  1. Hi jeff,

This topic fascinates me, especially since i have this ability. I have always seen more than what meets the eye, and it has been good and bad. Recently it is becoming more and more prominent as i get older. Now, as a 17 year old studying Psychology, history, English, Economics and French I notice my creativity. I am not particularly good at art, but i am incredibly creative in my English work. I do not know what my official IQ is but i don't imagine it's amazing. Anyway, thanks for the info. Also keep watching prison break, best series to date. Yours, James

  2. Hi James,

I'm really glad someone found this interesting (I certainly did:))

It must be awesome to be able to notice every intricate detail.

  3. That depends on what you classify as a genius. If you simply mean someone with an exceptionally high IQ then I very much doubt that all "genius's" are emotionally unstable and suffer from chronic depression.

  4. yeah, u guys think that it'd be cool to have this, but what if u combined it

with a moderate level obsesive-compulsive disorder where u can see everything in something, but find something wrong with it instead of creative opportunities. Ronald's the only one with a freakin' clue.

  5. yeah it really sucks being highly intelligent and having OCD and ADD run in the family. possibly LLI too, i am going to start seeing a psychologist next week on campus to try to harvest my thoughts and also we together are going to try to research LLI more sense it is mostly still being researched…but it isnt that much fun to actually have those things listed above and then quite possibly have LLI…what a fun week i am going to have if i do in fact have LLI

  6. I am a huge fan of the fox tv show Prison Break. I started watching it a few weeks ago and I am now totally addicted. I have heard that the new series starts in March, is this true? and do you know the exact date?

Many thanks and all the best with your blog

  7. Hi flamingo,
Yes unfortunately they're on a mid-season break and the next episode (Rat Episode #14) won't be aired until March 20 2006.

    Thanks for visiting.

  8. chris
dude ur actually excited about going to a shrink? what the hell is wrong with u?
all they do is nod, say hmmm, asign medication and then get paid 50 dallars an hour for it! i would never have even gone to a shrink if my parents hadnt made me when i was 7. it was a waste of money. she ended up resigning.

  9. Thank you for the article. I found it very interesting, I'm 16 and I have LLI.

Also, I personally think psychologists are helpful. They don't asign medication, that's psychiatrists.

  10. man! finally someone that doesnt try to higher his/her ego by saying stuff about them selves, you guys do not need psychologists you need some of atention, from anybody!

    from colombia..juan

  11. A defining characteristic of a genius is concentration, in any form of problem-solving concentration is essential. Low Latent Inhibition seems to create the opposite effect of concentration and apparently eat up your working memory as well. When your processing every piece of stimulus and your working memory is busy maintaining the process, how could you possibly solve problems creatively?

A person without LLI and who has trained mentally to consider more options and take more variables into account when problemsolving should have a huge advantage over someone with LLI, right?

  12. Thats an interesting point. However personally I don't think one's problem solving ability is the sole dictator of our creative prowess. Creativity corresponds to originality and in order to be original we have to be open to ideas and not to be too single-minded. Thus to this end its seems to me that LLI may be very helpful.

  13. What is really interesting is the way people with LLI view the world(how their consciousness "feels"), and how it would be different from people without the condition. It's impossible to imagine a different consciousness than the one you've experienced so we can have no idea of how it would feel. Would it be refreshing and eye-opening to go from a normal state to a state of low latent inhibition or would it feel stressful and maybe claustrophobic?

If it was possible to somehow experience this using corticosterone I would definately give it a try(I haven't been tested for LLI but I assume I don't have it).

  14. I myself have "LLI" although rather mildly I think, it has mainly made me extremely perceptive to such things as miniscule gestures in peoples voices and body language. My ability to solve problems are also very clear and creative.

Although I can imagine what it must be like to have it drive you mad, every now and again a few days or so a year I start perceiving, everything. It all becomes crystal clear, every sound, every visual stimuliae everything, it normally last between a few hours and a day or so. It's terrifying, in a crowd you perceive every voice and every step, it matches up visually to every person making that noise, and it physically hurts to take in that much information, to in class hear every pencil is agony, ones mind is functioning in a way it simply wasn't designed for. If the people who go mad have it like that all the time I certainly don't blame them.

  15. It has been very interesting to learn about LLI, it explains some of my over-sensitive perceptive ability. In my case it is both a blessing and great problem. It isuseful in my work as a researcher, but it is sometimes really hard to be around people. I perceive most of other people's subtle emotions and it is hard to handle. What I would like to know is if there is something one may do to limit the effect of LLI?

  16. I the swedish lady, I think I can relate to what you are saying. It might be the year I spent as an exchange student that caused my wicked perception. I have tried deeling with the cronic visual stimuliae and the only cure I have found to reduce this illness, is smoking weed.

  17. To see a psychologist is the only way to explore your mind.I "suffer" of Low Inhibition and i think i is fifty/fifty positive and negative.I am able to see things/people in another perspective.I would like to see more research in this subject and compare it with the positive sides of for example ADHD.Another thing interresting is that i tryed a thing 10 yrs ago called Magic Muchrooms or psylocube cubencis, that was a terrifying experience but it gave me a higer state of councisness.

We/humans always like to think that our way of thinking is the highest level, but we are only a little smarter than animals."What if" there is someting "out there" who make us look like ???.George Bush belives in Jesus,God created mankind/mankind created God.

I belive in Frodo/Lord of the rings,

    wish is another old fairytale!!!!!

  18. I have been diagnosed with OCD. IQ test resulted in above average score. English is my first language even though it’s not my mother tonge. I feel I adopted it in order to be able to amass more data.

I work as a web designer. Have filmed a feature length film and a pilot dealing with the paranormal. Everyone wonders how I lured the producers to finance. Just an understanding of the human condition, maybe?

Sometimes I’m so innundated with stimuli my head aches. Yo _do_ see and hear more. I have written about it here:
    http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/23117213/

  19. I must say I have to agree with Stake.I also have LLI.It can be good or bad depending on the rest of your personality. With me I find it seems to help,my creativity,if I dont have many other issues around me at the time and am not very stressed. However when I`m stressed or depressed, keeping out the negative stuff can be overwhelming at times. In my field I must solve big practical problems, puzzles in an ever changing environment while competing with others to do it as fast as I can or I just dont get paid.I thank God that my mind seems to work like a computer and I`m sucessfull at taking in the info, interpreting it and making my decissions based on what I could see (that others dont). It`s a bonus that way…But there is often a lot bad,sad info that comes in that I can do without.

  20. um i wanted to know how does low latent inhibitoin (high IQ) develop? does it pass on through genes or does it develop over time?

  21. i have wanted to be an inventer since i was little, about 8. growing up, and i still do, i drew art, wrote music and lyrics but also technical drawings. designing houses and.. inventions. i thought i might have this thing, i dont know. But i know i have always been easily overwhelmed and then slip into depression. i have a high IQ but its still easy to be overwhelmed if you dont have a single purpose in life like the prison break guy. this show rocks! i’ll be watching episode 14 when it comes out.

  22. man o man. Stake you could not have Say-ed it better. The Swedish Lady nor could you. Wayne the bad is bad, and what you had to say compared also. And to joe i have wanted to be an inventer since i was little, about 5. so with credit where it need-BEE. Now I say LLI ?what episode 9 of the new tv series ?Prison Break? showed me?. Is the X in my life that made me see every thing and seek farther into life to find my on version of Closure. So. With that out off the way I say the bad is very bad and causes unending depression. But I have found escape in weed From that. My life in school was hell because I saw every one in all there social groups and miss=comings, you would call me a loaner on the school yard. I still have no friends. What can I say I stop people from stabbing me in my back b4 they can. Now moving on to the Questions that still exist in all facets of life. I would say the LLI has made me look further in to it all and On the good side given me the ability to say, every thing is possible at once and even the most contradictory of things can both be right. Good and the Bad, God and Evolution, Science and Nature. LLI makes you look at everything threes no stopping the thoughts. PS one thing not already talked about buy comers forth is sleep Insomnia.

  23. Good/interesting article. I always entertain starting a blog…

On the topic of LLI and prison break; there’s a marathon on fx today of the show b4 the premeire tomoorow. Good show. LLI sounded interesting so I googled it. Foun this blog.

I think since LLI is chemical based and that chemical is based on your bodies stress levels that there would be natural gradations and degrees of LLI.

I think I would have a mild case of the condition; I’ve always been unusually perceptive and was prone to feelings of alienation when younger mainly because it didn’t seem like very many others saw things the way I did.

I’m much more balanced now and I think it has a lot to do with a single focused purpose, like a previous poster mentioned. Without my solid focus I would feel lost in my information.

I’m a writer interested in all things but mainly philosophy, physics and religion. With both fiction and non-fiction projects for all media types it helps to take in as much information as possible.

  24. hi
never posted on anything like this before and was watching d tv program by accident, dont watch tv as dont like it… seems a bit like the huge passifying pill of the nation that turns us all into hindu cows!
    but…
diagnosed wiv OCD n Depression couple of years ago, graduated with 2:1 in Fine Art Sculpture back in 2002, now studying towards BFA in Textile Art, wrote insightful poetry since ten and wanted to be an inventor since 6. N was kinda mega surprised by dis info dat speaks 2 me completely. Wow… does this mean I’m not a freak?
Wot a refreshing read, really enjoyed reading the messages, how do you find out if u’ve got LLI, considering that I’m English and u cant get things diagnosed like u can in sunny America?
    Cheers
    Becks

  25. I’m so glad I saw that episode.

I’ve always been LLI (low latent inhibition), but it’s not the kind of thing people believe in. But now I can say, look, I really am a natural genius, and you can be sure of it because of what the doctor said on Prison Break.

The things that trips ppl up is, they don’t believe what they haven’t experiences THEMSELVES. But we are all in our own SELF. Always.

MySELF is always receiving streams of images and ideas. I am a web designer. I am also a programmer. Sometimes I write poetry. I even do math, not just normal math, but hard math. When you are LLI, there are so many ideas streaming in. That’s just what you have to do.

Wow, I almost lost my breath thinking about it. Thank God for Prison Break, which lets me explain to everyone here how special I am.

    peace in the middle east,
    nalgal

    p.s. wow. cosmic.

  26. P.S. I get told off by my girlfriend for staring at people on the bus, love negative shapes, am always writing things down to just try and get it all out of me and get desperatly depressed at work in my visual merchandising job, because i worry about the fabrics and colours and products put together and the products that we sell because they support and promote the sexuality of under-age girls and are major contributors in the conditioning of the sexes within society.
    thanks
    becks

  27. I am 13, and I have LLI. It is actually a pretty nice thing to have. It helps, to a degree, in school. But it can also be a bad thing. If I see an error in the lessons that I am being taught, which I almost always do, I have a tendancy to point them out to the teacher. Because they do not see the error, because they don’t see every thing that I do, they almost always end up getting me in trouble one way or another. And because I always point out the error during class, the teacher feels embaresed because they were wrong about something. PRISON BREAK IS THE BEST SHOW ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!!!!!!!!

  28. ok Wow? does this mean I?m not a freak? Also! Is how I felt to beck. It is funny to see a TV show an hear something that speaks out to you is this my problem TOO. I can?t get a diagnosis to be sure I have LLI or any other additives that make me ME. I do have a self questioning statement though. Now days I have so-called ??familiar ??environment but it is based on what I think is common knowledge. A example of what I think is common knowledge would be the way my light switch is a part of a system, that is my houses wiring- and that you do gust flick it on or off but there is more happening under light switch cover. ?Now my room is my familiar environment and the light switch is part of it But it wasn?t always?. As a younger kid ?I just turned 18? I seen every thing around me and was not satisfied whit it. I always know there is more to something. At 4 my mom stopped buying me expensive toys. R/C cares for example. I seen it go but Y, and then other people tell me it goes why do you need to know Y. so I seek my on knowledge of Y it goes and take it apart. P.S. there are many many scenarios gust like this and may more involved than I could express in words. All because I see it and care deeply why -asked other people and find my self telling them that?s not exactly all, I know that much. Don?t ask me if I have a
PS2. I do and I know how most all of it works now but I can only play PS1 games on it >> lol I gave it a disk read error.

  29. i Started reading Theo Antichi post at http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/23117213/
    and i seen this
“As a youngster, I was one of those children who had to understand a school subject completely in order to apply the knowledge. Learning by repetition is something I simply could not bring myself to do.”
and thought HOW DO YOU KNOW ME

    ppl cool chating

  30. hi jeff,
i actually watched the prison break and that’s where i found out about this condition. i became curious too so i googled it and i was glad to find your website.
my question is where can you find testings to see if you have this certain condition? and also, was this acquired at birth or can someone develop this?

  31. hi,

I don?t think ive got this LLI thing but I can identify with seeing too much in something. I’m an architect and have always been very aware of my surroundings, I get transfixed by a very small detail but at the same time can see everything at once. I can also see an entire building right down to the finest detail before I even put pen to paper (I imagine this is common with all designers). I recently got very overwhelmed by everything in my life and started having panic attacks and consequently read a book about it. The one positive thing I got from it was that you are thinking all the time so you might as well make it a positive thought. If you try you can find a positive in every negative and this eventually helps (if you can keep it up).

this probably has absolutly nothing to do with this conversation but it might help someone.

    cheers K

  32. Hi Jeff, I did pretty much the same thing that you did. Here in the UK, series 9 of prison break was aired only last night – 21st March 2006 and I got the LLI and googled it and came up with astounding results. I am more enlightened now and will consider myself a normal person but with streaks of LLI.

  33. I too watched Prison Break and that?s where I found out about this condition, became curious, googled it, and here I am, was glad to find your website.

There are a lot of interesting comments here, thank you everyone 🙂 Explains a lot about my own situation.

  34. Hello Jeff, I too saw this on Prison Break and was interested in knowing more. Can you tell me if you know of any on-line tests to determine if a person has this condition before going to see someone about it.
    Thanks

  35. Hi everyone,
Thanks for your comments. A lot of you have asked how it is possible to test for LLI. Well unfortunately I haven’t found any tests for it but I found this article from Harvard University:
    http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/2003/10.23/01-creativity.html
They say they put 82 Harvard graduate and undergraduate students through a series of tests involving listening to repeated strings of nonsense syllables, hearing background noise, and watching yellow lights on a video screen – in order to compare latent inhibition with creativity. However the researchers do not want to reveal details of how latent inhibition was scored because such tests are still going on with other subjects.

From my understanding ‘Latent Inhibition’ is simply one’s ability to ignore irrevelant information. The use of the word ‘suffering’ (from LLI) might have been misleading as its not a condition that you either have or don’t have. People have different levels of latent inhibition and if you’re someone who takes in a lot of extra/irrevelant information then you have low latent inhibition; thus its not really necessary to test for it.

By the way episode 14 of Prison Break came out 2 days ago, so if you haven’t seen it already – HURRY! 🙂
(Episode 15 should be out this Monday)

  36. i too watched prison break (only came out two days ago in uk) and heard about this lli, i googled it and found a lot of similarities between it and me. every so often, i will be more intune than usual with everything, the footsteps, voices and where they are coming from. Being in year 9 and one of the youngest and doing my GCSE’s, this can help or just bring on extra stress. sometimes during lesson, if i feel something isn’s that challenging, i try to do something else that is.

  37. Just leaving a msg to say. WOW..I loved reading the whole thing, psychology facinates me a lot.

    Good work.

  38. Hi everyone. I’ve also watched Prison Break and found the condition of LLI an interesting area. I will continue to research this area into further detail and will post it here. Prison Break is the best series on earth! Keep up the good work

    London, UK

  39. I thought it was normal to be bombarded with visual information about the world. Now i know its not… i have an IQ of somewhere in the region of 140 but i am not so creative in English and Art… when it comes to math and logic i excell. Is this how i display my creativity? Im only 17. A bit of Pain in the ARSE. Oh and i hate math shame im going to be an accountant eh?

Prison break shouldnt be on channel 5! best TV show churned out yet.

  40. Yup , same here also got here after watching Prison Break and got interested in the topic.
Thanks for the info – appreciate the effort. Peace !

    Greets from Germany.

  41. hi – i also became fascinated with this whole theory after watching Prison Break. To know that there is this theory that exists out there would answer alot of my questions about life and understanding people in the world. At the end of the day its what you allow yourself to be exposed to -by being open minded. I read one of the above replies where someone mentioned how their mind states of receiving all of this incoming additional information would last for a day or two sometimes. I have experienced the same thing and could never explain it- i call it knowing too much and not knowing how to deal with what you know and that was the closest ive ever come to understasnding any of this. I also thought of it all being linked to my psychic self opening up and responding to the environment around me. Its a conversation that not alot of my friends understand as they dont have a clue what im talking about – but its all really fascinating and now i just want to know more and more as i think this theory will answer alot of the questions that are dwelling in my mind about who i really am. I also have alot to share about my experiences and just want to talk and talk. I am happy to have stumbled upon this. Thanks alot – and greetings from London

  42. hey,
likewise, i saw prison break, and the usual story continues… internet, search, then here i am.
only no! i didnt ‘google it’ like most of u.
    i YAHOO!’d it.
oh well, i had to be different.
    anyway,
    back to the point
when i was watching PB, which was the first time, (i thought it was a film, by the way) there were all my friends and family around me, not really interested in it, but just socialising.
anyway, i couldnt really hear much of PB because of the noise, but unusually, near the end, i heard about LLI, i didnt no what it was, but it clicked in my head, and i new that it was something that i had to find out about. so i immediately, so i got out my mobile fone, and saved ‘lower latent inhabition’ as a text message, even spelling it wrong, being the first time i’d come across the word. my brother tho, older than i, saw me tapping away on my fone and asked me what i was doing, as i was tapping away quite violently. anyway my conversation with him is mot ver important here, but i just wanted to ask, why is it that, when i am typing, as i am now, my hands jerk alot, as though they cannnot move quick enough to press the letters that my brain is signalling me to do. i find that at times, when i really need to get something out, i have to physically constrain myself, wheteher it be typing, speaking or writing. i mumble alot when i need to get my point across firmy, even though i’ve been told that im an articulate communicator. also, my handwriting can get really scrappy when doing mathes, (i also do furhter maths, which is reallty intensive) because sometimes i feel an overload of numbers being stored in my head. but at other times, when im relaxed, i have exquisite handwriting. thankyou for your time.

  43. Hi.. ..
Iv’e just been reading everything that you guys have posted.
I have allways felt a presence of LLI in me and have allways talked about it to my mother. At one stage i though i was going mad and failed every single last maths test.
I eventually found out that due to my LLI i would come up with way to many theories and possibilities to a problem or sum, and would end up confussing myself. Eventually i have been able to cope with this condition and lucky i am able to because i suffer from an extreme case (maximum), to make a long story short, i can control it and use it to my advantage and it’s actually helping me through life…..all i can say is anyone with this condition ( and i won’t say disorder ), is blessed, so be gratefull !

  44. ive always known i was diferent from others i instincly knew

ive always known a far greater depht to most things instingtly always thort i was a bit weard .these days i use this gift of lli to do art and build strang machines
amonst other things. i think once u get past how confusing it is to see so deep into things when your youger it is the best gift your mind can have all the best!

  45. Just some thoughts..

Purpose. A word of great meaning almost lost in the world. Some times we see a little part of the picture, and dont know where it goes. Other times we see the whole picture, but dont know what part we fit in. Stil other times we see the whole picture, and know where our part is, but wonder as to why it all fits together.A brick has a purpose. A car has a purpose. The sun has a purpose. Even the things we cant see have a purpose.(why did you leave the light on? because my brothers coming in.) Would it be odd to assume we have a purpose? Sometimes things seem so complex that we cant get a grip. If we see that we have a purpose cant we stop and look at things a little more simply because we have a starting point?

    Truth. There is no truth.
This is a truth statement and voids its self. This shows there is a true and a false. Deeper still we can say there is a good and an evil. Does this mean that all is relative good and evil are even, ying and yang? No. Consider this..who distinguishes? If im in the ying and say im right, and your in the yang and say your right… something outside of that has to determine the greater one. Or like this.. society A says there right but society B says no we are right by what measure are they comparing one another? May there be one with the perfect rule of measure?

Life. Life is short no matter how many years we live.We all have a strange and often hard-to-identify inner vacuum that gives us a feeling of incompletness. We should not be taken captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of the world.Would not REAL life come from the truth of our purpose?

Jesus says “I am the way and the truth and the life”
Friends we all have value. We can be overwhelmed by our thoughts, family, work, etc. We can have a life with such flavor and meaning that we can handle the weight of the world that presses us. Move closer to him who is life and he will move closer to you.
    Search for the truth.

  46. I agree with “The swedish lady”. It can be a pain and a blessing at the same time.
I work as a food safety auditor and have been told that nothing misses my eyes/senses. I notice even the tiniest scratch/crack or speck of dust. Nuts/bolts, hinges, and basically all fixtures and fittings can be scanned for details such as the condition, material cleanliness etc.
This ability seems to have peaks and troughs.
During periods of stress at work I will notice even the slightest stimuli around me. Peoples footsteps, body language, breathing, telephone conversations, writing, typing, activity in the car park etc etc etc all pound my senses and it can become a nightmare. At times like this, I struggle to focus on a task.
I am not very creative. I do not know what my IQ is but have the ability to think of new ideas and make good decision very quickly. Previously, this was attributed to good intuitive skills but now am wondering if this has anything to do with the interesting phenomenon of LLI or OCD that I suffered as a child??
I have learnt a lot from this site. Thanks!
