This is my monthly rant about IE being slow, insecure, non-standards compliant, etc – i.e. (no pun intended) its a piece of shit!
I’ll list a few of microsoft internet explorer’s seemingly unlimited flaws:
* Major security issues – Prone to viruses and worms.
* Spyware and Adware issues in Internet Explorer.
* Internet Explorer’s lack of modern user-centric features – its missing many handy features such as tabbed browsing and integrated search.
* Internet Explorer is the slowest browser available.
* Internet Explorer has abysmal Web Standards support.
* Renders pages incorrectly – Web designers then need to spend extra time working so that pages work in Internet Explorer. This puts costs up, and slows the web down.
* Far larger program than other web browsers.
* Doesn’t support PNG images properly
* Doesn’t let people resize certain text sizes. This means those with poor sight cannot read small text on many sites.
Internet Explorer is the worst major browser. There are a number of free alternatives available. These alternatives are standards compliant, i.e. they conform to international standards. Internet Explorer is not standards compliant, and thus renders pages wrongly. Currently the best alternative to IE is Firefox, which you can download by clicking this:
At the moment the website’s new design does not render properly in internet explorer and I don’t really have time to fix this. However I am very pleased to announce that 52.9% of people viewing my website now uses firefox compared with the 35.3% of idiots who are still using IE (The other 11.8% are using other browsers – Opera, Safari, K-Meleon, Camino, etc). This is a considerable improvement from last month and I hope that this post will convert even more people to Firefox.
I couldn't agree with you more there Jeff. IE is a waste of time. Although IE7 does have tabbed browsing, and is an improvement from the previous version, but it is still lacking. I've been a Firefox user for a few years now, and I could never go back to IE unless Microsoft work some kind of miracle.
I work for an email marketing company and I’ve worked in both Support and Deliverability. I’ve seen how IE renders HTML code. I’ve seen message look totally different when using the same email client in IE than in Firefox for example. The over all functionality of IE leaves much to be desired for. IE7 is a knock off version of Mozilla Firefox 2.0. The problem is over 80% of the internet community uses IE, so our product is compatible with all browsers except Safari but we all know Safari blows. Not to mention that disabling pop up blocker (turning it off) in IE doesn’t always turn it off. I’m done with it. I can barely navigate IE any more since I’ve been in Firefox world.
Tilldate, I too thought it should be the fact. But now when I tried to use my custom control in my page developed using asp, it failed to display the control where as IE displays the control properly. Whom should I blame. Whether IE or Firefox. When you google the net you can find many threads mentioning that it works good in IE and not in Firefox.
IE is the worst browser due to it’s horrible rendering and pathetic security. Microsoft please give up, most computers come with Firefox built on them now.

Google Chrome is far the best browser now IMO. and over three years after the author’s post, IE still sucks.
Haha you got that right Eric. IE still sucks. Even with Windows 7, its still garbage. Even opening and closing tabs is sloooooooooow!

Only idiots or computer noobs seem to use IE. I stopped using that browser after i found Firefox. If firefox ever fails to deliver than there’s opera, chrome and safari. Never again with IE!

totally agree, I would use Mac if they don’t cost much more. Windows sux, shutting down apache takes so long, my colleague shuts down apache in a few seconds in his Ubuntu.

I think we all need to coordinate a 3 day strategic attack on IE, seriously.
– Day 1: We all break websites in our control so they only work in Chrome and Firefox.
– Day 2: Direct Traffic to those sites through emails, blogs, etc.
– Day 3: Emails to friends and YouTube videos explaining why people should leave IE.
We seriously need to get rid of it. It’s wasting tons of your valuable time and effectively cutting your paycheck.

I recently created a new website and the following problemns are IE9 specific
– User signs out the site thinks they are still signed in
– Clear out temp files, cookies, hisotry STILL thinks they are signed in
– Close browser STILL thinks they are signed in
– Only way aorund it is to sign in as another user but then they get the same problem.
– Session timeout. Set to 30 minutes ut in IE9 it is random depending on buttons or links clicked. Sometimes as soon as you sign in you see my ‘sessionTime.xhtml’ page
– Random buttons on pages don’t click, well they click but nothing happens.
– objects in code random get returned as NULL (I have countless ‘hacks’ creating new objects to handle this)
None of the above is an issue with FF, Chrome or even Netscape.
IE9 seriously needs to be discontinued because in my opinion it is littered with serious flaws and faults.
I can’t believe it’s actually been released in such a terrible state!
Forgot to add, loads of javascript functions simple don’t work in IE, but are fine in FF and Chrome.

IE9 The worst browser ever… period! Its clunky, unstable, weak, slow, freezes, exasperating to work with. I saw a MS commercial about how IE9 is the best browser? Why does MS even need to have a commercial for that when its in windows. Guess they are trying to defend IE9 from all the complaints. Its well deserved. I pretty much use Firefox exclusive.
I totally agree! Internet Explorer is a total misery. It’s slow, it’s virus prone, and can’t display newer sites properly. I use Chrome and I think everyone should start using Chrome! It’s (much) faster, nicer looking, and it takes seconds to start up.
What I don’t understand is why IE is still a POS after almost 20 years of existence. Isn’t 20 years enough time to refine something and make it great…never mind.
The only reason I don’t use Chrome is that it is not capable of sizing print documents, like shrink to fit…which used to be a feature of IE until the miserable piece of shit stopped working.
IE is the most useless piece of shit of anything on the web.
