I recently got an invite to join Newsvine and I have lots of spare invites in my account – so if anyone needs a Newsvine Invite just post your email address below and I’ll send one your way 😉

Now Newsvine is a run of the mill news website and more. News from the Associated Press automatically gets added, so it?s like CNN.com. Users can ?seed? articles they find online, so it?s like Digg. Users can also write articles, so it?s like a blog. All these are blended together to get an amazing website with a plethora of interesting things to read.

Once I signed up on Newsvine I was taken to my ?column? where it shows all the articles I?ve written, all the links I have seeded, and more infomation if you browse though some of the links on my column. I didn?t know quite what to do so I just clicked something that seemed intersting. I clicked the Politics tab. This tab is located on a bar on the website which is always visable. Where ever you go it?s always there. It?s part of the page. Newsvine gives easy access to the different parts of the site. Now in the center of the page is the latest article written by the Associated Press. Off to the right you have Top Wire and Top Seeds. Under these is a section where writers are featured.

Under Top Wire are the highest voted articles for that day. Under Top Seeds is the same thing except it?s for seeded links instead of articles. Clicking the title brings you to the page of the article or seed. Here you can comment, vote, and chat. Newsvine has a voting system much like on Digg, where you vote and it brings the post up in ranking and then is displayed on the front page. The comment feature is just like a normal comment feature. It allows you to post your oppion and also has a handy spell check feature. Now the Chat feature is really cool. Although not many people particapate in it, if you find a populated chat it can lead to some really intersting discussions. This happens for all articles and seeds, even articles written by the Associated Press.

As of now there are no ads on Newsvine. There will be at some point though. The cool thing is that 90% of ad revenue on your column will go to you. The other 10% will go to the person who refered you (so let me know if you want an invite) or, if nobody refered you, to the site. I really like the way it?s set up and it?s a very organized way to bring lots and lots of data to you. The only real thing that would be a major improvement would be if they had differant, user choosable, color themes. Other then that the website is perfect. Since it?s still in beta more and more handy features are being added and some things are being changed but the overall site structure is set and doesn?t need to be change.
